The 2025 Spring Festival travel season kicked off on Jan 14, with bustling crowds seen at Guangzhou Baiyun Station and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

Baiyun Station is welcoming its second-ever Spring Festival season, with the first temporary train, K4502, departing at 12:42 on the same day, heading towards destinations such as Baoji, Wuhan, Xinyang, Chongqing, Nanchang, and Luoyang.

Baiyun Station has set up green channels and added waiting chairs and charging facilities to enhance station services. On the first day, 58 originating trains and 16 passing trains, totaling 74 trains, will be dispatched, with an estimated passenger flow of around 40,000 people.

Throughout the Spring Festival travel period, an estimated 1.57 million passengers are expected, representing a 46.4 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Due to the overlap of the winter vacation and the peak pre-holiday travel period, Baiyun Airport is experiencing a convergence of people coming for student travel, tourism, or returning home, leading to expectations for a prolonged peak passenger flow period.

The airport has arranged a festive flower street, as well as cultural experiences such as lion dances, parades, and calligraphy writing. The peak pre-holiday passenger flow is expected to occur from Jan 20 to 27, while the post-holiday peak will be from Feb 2 to 7.

Throughout the Spring Festival travel period, Baiyun Airport is expected to handle 61,300 flight movements, 9.47 million passengers, and 238,100 metric tons of cargo and mail, more than last year's Spring Festival on all counts.
