Baiyun reports robust economic growth in first 3 quarters of 2024
Baiyun district has demonstrated impressive economic resilience and growth in the first three quarters of 2024, according to the latest data released by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics. Baiyun's GDP reached 208.63 billion yuan ($29.3 billion) during the period, marking a 5.1 percent year-on-year increase (in constant prices, the same below).
Agriculture in Baiyun has shown steady growth, with the total output value of the agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industries reaching 5.55 billion yuan, a 3.3 percent increase year-on-year. The fishery sector in particular saw a 20.7 percent increase, while the forestry industry grew by 38 percent.
Industrial production in Baiyun remained stable, with a 1.3 percent year-on-year increase in the total output value of industries above designated size. The new energy sector and aviation-related industries saw growth rates of 44.2 percent and 36.3 percent, respectively. The food industry saw a 22.4 percent increase in output value.
The aviation transportation sector thrived with a 26.3 percent year-on-year increase in cargo and passenger turnover. Consumption in Baiyun remained strong, with online consumption showing impressive growth, and retail sales through public networks increasing by 13.8 percent.
Baiyun's fixed asset investment exceeded 93.8 billion yuan, a 2.6 percent year-on-year increase. Industrial and construction investment saw year-on-year growth rates of 42.7 percent and 20.9 percent, respectively.
