As a core aviation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), Baiyun district has four comprehensive transportation hubs: Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou International Port, Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station, and Guangzhou Railway Station (north square). Integrating air and rail transportation provides the district a solid guarantee for efficiency efficiency.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is one of China's three biggest international aviation hubs. Established in the 1930s, it was the busiest airport in south China.

The Phase III expansion project of Baiyun airport was completed in 2023. Twenty-three new aircraft routes were added while its passenger throughput totaled 63.17 million, ranking first among China's airports for four years with a year-on-year increase of 142 percent in 2023.

To the south of the airport, an aviation-oriented commercial zone is being developed, featuring the airport central business district (CBD) and an exhibition center, both of which are scheduled for partial completion and operation this year.

"We aim to host a large-scale international aviation expo by the end of this year," revealed the official in charge, adding that surrounding areas will also be developed to include an aviation-oriented manufacturing zone and an integrated industrial and urban area, driving the development of the entire district.

Baiyun airport is set to jointly establish an air-rail transfer service point with Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station in early January 2024 to reduce travel time and provide passengers with more convenient travel services.

In addition, the airport plans to establish a new high-speed railway station, which is poised to include six high-speed rail lines, two high-speed lines, and one metro line in the future.

Currently, many airline companies such as China Southern Airlines, Goldjet Logistics, and others, have settled in Renhe town in the northern part of Baiyun. The area's aviation tourism town project has commenced operations to the public.
