A large cold storage warehouse, the main building of an agricultural and sideline products wholesale market, or the City of Ingredients, located in Guangzhou's Baiyun district, was capped on Oct 31, 2023.
It marked the milestone where the first phase of the trade center project is moving toward its final stage.
As urban development speeds up, the traditional wholesale markets face the demand for digital transformation and upgrading. Planning a "food capital" project is the city's effort to meet the demand.
Covering about 15,000 square meters, the project is located on Songzhou Street, home to several wholesale food, fruit, and vegetable markets. Goods from these markets are sold in more than 40 countries and regions.

It is adjacent to Huawei Technology's research and development center in the South, a digital technology town in the North, and a digital commerce industry park in the East.
It is about 500 meters from the under-construction Xizhou Station of Subway Line 13, and its west side is 130 meters from the Pearl River's west channel.
Based on the solid industrial foundation and convenient transportation, the project is set to be built to cover a wide range of businesses, such as exhibition and trade fairs, industrial headquarters, agricultural and sideline product consumption and circulation, and food-themed tours.
Upon its completion, the project, with a total floorage of 44,000 sq m, expects to house a headquarters base, a live-streaming trade center, cold chain warehousing and logistics, and hotels. It will offer one-stop services, including warehousing, packaging, shipping, and distribution for customers worldwide.
