In December 2022, the Design Capital of Guangzhou was included in the city's pilot international community construction list.

It now has attracted over 300 high-quality enterprises. It is projected to achieve a production value of over 60 billion yuan ($8 billion) in 2023 and is striving to become a highland for design innovation in the Greater Bay Area.

On Dec 21, 2023, Guangzhou Creative Week opened in Baiyun, and it was announced that the permanent venue for 2023 Guangzhou Creative Week would be located in the Design Capital of Guangzhou.

During this grand event, distinguished guests from heavyweight organizations such as the World Design Organization, World Green Design Organization, and the Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology gathered in Baiyun.
