FedEx Express, one of the world's largest express transportation companies, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Guangdong Airport Authority on Thursday to form a strategic collaboration, with a groundbreaking ceremony held for the FedEx South China Operations Center.
The two sides will collaborate to enhance airport operational efficiency, speed up the implementation of the new facility and expand investments.
They will also promote FedEx's strategic presence and development at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
Slated to begin operation in 2027, the FedEx South China Operations Center aims to expand and upgrade FedEx Guangzhou Gateway and improve FedEx's capacity and efficiency in processing import and export shipments in South China.
The facility will occupy an area of more than 41,000 square meters and will be able to sort up to 25,000 packages and documents per hour, three times the sorting efficiency of the company's current Guangzhou Gateway.
The FedEx APAC Hub, located at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, has been a major regional hub for the company since its initiation in 2009. The facility currently operates more than 240 international flights and 700 trucks per week, reaching over 220 countries and regions.
