Main tower of Guangzhou-Foshan Bridge to be capped in March

Updated : March 2, 2023

Phase I of the Guangzhou-Foshan Bridge project completed the two parts of its main tower on Feb 27, which laid a foundation for the main tower's capping in March.

The 1.3-kilometer project will connect Jianshe Avenue in the west and Datansha Island in the east, and will have a designated speed of 60 km per hour. The project plans to set up a two-way six-lane main bridge and four ramp bridges.

The main bridge is expected to be a super-large cable-stayed bridge that runs across the Pearl River, and will have a total length of 278 meters and a tower height of 100.5 meters.

The construction team mainly follows the "building block" method, and uses pre-made components for assembly. This accelerates the team's construction speed while also minimizing the impact on the environment.

Upon its completion, the project will improve the area's travel convenience, as it will relieve the traffic congestion at Jinshazhou Bridge. The bridge will also further strengthen the connection between Guangzhou and Foshan, and promote the collaborative economic development of both regions.
