Baiyun's Maofeng Mountain scenic area has ushered in the best viewing time of red maple trees, with the unique scenes attracting numerous tourists during the National Day holiday, local media outlets reported on Oct 4.

Covering an area of 5,000 square meters, the area's red maple park features nearly 1,000 off-season maple trees, most of which have Acer palmatum leaves.

Red maples are deciduous trees with slender and smooth branches, as well as beautiful leaves. They are about 2 to 4 meters high, which is very suitable for viewing and photographing.

According to statistics, the tourist volume of Maofeng Mountain on Oct 1 had increased by nearly 50 percent compared with the same time last year due to the appeal of the unique red maple trees.

In addition to the red maple park, the 1,500-sq-m square on the top of Maofeng Mountain is also well worth visiting. It has a viewing platform that allows tourists to enjoy beautiful city scenes overlooking Guangzhou.
