The transformation plan for the government reserved land lot - the Junhewei area project - on both sides of Xinshi Road was approved on Sept 2, aiming to develop the area into a high-quality urban area in Guangzhou's Baiyun district.

The 37.1-hectare transformation project will keep its traditional "three horizontal and five vertical" village street pattern and will build new small-scale blocks and low-rise buildings.

While preserving its core area's historical elements, the area will establish cultural and public service facilities as well as squares on the east side, creating a new cultural, commercial and travel industry area in central Baiyun .

To give full play to the area's natural resources, a waterfront park and a special cruise ship that leads to Shima Peach Blossom Park are planned to be put into operation along the Junhechong River, the area's most important river.

With a floorage of 242,000 square meters, the area plans to add 28 new public service facilities, three 60-meter buildings, two 80-meter buildings, one 18-classroom primary school and one nine-classroom kindergarten before completion. It will strive to optimize its previous road network as well.
