The Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Maoming connecting line, which is part of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway Section II project, completed its T-beam erection on Aug 23.

The connecting line stretches 6.03 kilometers and comprises two super large bridges and one medium-sized bridge. As the key node project of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, it will effectively alleviate the traffic pressure of the Guangzhou-Maoming Railway once operational.

The Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway is an important part of China's "Eight Vertical & Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It is also the largest high-speed railway project invested in by Guangdong province in recent years.

The 400.11-km railway will pass through Guangzhou, Foshan, Yunfu, Yangjiang, and Maoming before ending in Zhanjiang, with a designed maximum speed of 350 km per hour.

The railway will make it possible for people to travel between downtown Guangzhou and Zhanjiang in 90 minutes, promoting the integration of western Guangdong's coastal areas, including Yangjiang, Maoming and Zhanjiang, into the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
