Xiongwei village in Guangzhou's Baiyun district has vigorously developed the "one village one product" project with a distinctive agricultural guava brand in the village.

As the village's main guava producing area, Xiangji Orchard grows guavas that are large and green on the outside while taste sweet and crisp with a strong flavor after they turn yellow and ripen.

There are now two guava varieties in the orchard, namely the pearl guava and the red watermelon guava, and the picking prices are 10 yuan ($1) per kilogram and 20 yuan per kg, respectively.

The picking period will last from August to May 2023, while the best picking time is around the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Chen Zhiwei, head of the orchard, said this year's guavas mature relatively earlier than before due to the high temperature and rainy weather, and the orchard's total output is expected to reach 80,000 kg, which is similar to last year.

Lots of tourists visit the orchard to buy guavas every year. The average daily amount of picked guavas by visitors can exceed 1,000 kg, which is becoming the orchard's main source of income, Chen added.
