The fifth Longgang Wampee Culture Festival of Zhongluotan town in Guangzhou's Baiyun district will open on July 3, encompassing dance performances, a donation ceremony, as well as qipao and calligraphy shows.

Five local wampee trees will be auctioned and winners of these trees will get the wampee picking rights to them. A fair selling agricultural products of Longgang village will be set up, allowing visitors to taste and buy distinctive agricultural products.

Longgang village is the largest wampee plantation area in Guangzhou, with a total plantation area reaching 1,500 mu (100 hectares). Longgang wampees have long been recognized as the tastiest wampee in Guangzhou for their sweetness and juiciness.

It is expected that the overall wampee production of Longgang village will reach 600,000 kilograms this year, with the best tasting period of wampees being in early July.

Of note, local governments have devoted great efforts to launching measures to help villagers sell wampees, opening up more sales channels.
