Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Space opens in Baiyun

A meeting on the protection of Baiyun district’s intangible cultural heritage was held on Nov 9 in Guangzhou, capital of South China’s Guangdong province, displaying a series of cultural items covering elegant mahogany furniture, exquisite crochet work and delicate Guangzhou-flavored cakes.

Representatives from local projects and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage shared experiences and exchanged their views on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage at the meeting.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Space in Baiyun district was officially inaugurated at the meeting, which will hold exhibitions and forums to show the public the unique charm and achievements in the protection of intangible cultural heritage and provide an immersive experience for visitors.

The space gathers intangible cultural heritage projects from across the district, exhibits project protection and inheritance from the Lingnan area in South China, integrates forums, exhibitions, competitions and performances. It will become an important cultural platform that is widely recognized by society, according to the bureau of culture, radio, television, tourism and sports of Baiyun district.

Featured projects such as the fire dragon dance, a provincial intangible cultural heritage project, and yueou, also known as Cantonese love songs, a city project unique to Baiyun district, will be displayed in the exhibition.
