China Southern Airlines has inaugurated the first direct flight connecting Guangzhou, China with Surabaya, Indonesia. The inaugural CZ8137 flight landed at Juanda International Airport at 22:02 on March 21, marking a milestone in air travel between the two countries.
The arrival was met with a grand water cannon salute, a time-honored aviation tradition symbolizing respect and celebration.

The Guangzhou–Surabaya route, operated by an Airbus A321, offers four weekly flights: departing Guangzhou on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with return flights from Surabaya on Tuesdays,
Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. With a flight duration of approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes, the new service enhances connectivity via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, strengthening trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia.
