Recently, the pre-station works of the Pearl River Delta Hub Airport, one section of the newly-built Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, have been completed. The completion signals that all main structures of the railway are under construction.
Within this year, it is expected that the railway will be opened for operation, and the Pearl River Delta Hub (Guangzhou New) Airport will start construction.
At the construction site, tower cranes stand in great numbers, and hundreds of large-scale machines are operating simultaneously. The station, with a total area of approximately 220,000 m², is beginning to take shape. The construction of a 4E-class airport above ground and the integration of high-speed railway, intercity railway and subway underground position the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) as a new comprehensive transportation hub.
The underground high-speed railway, intercity railway and subway lines are buried through tunnels.
The 220,000 m² underground high-speed railway station is taking shape.
Located at the junction of Foshan and Zhaoqing in Guangdong, the underground station contains 6 platforms and 14 tracks shared by high-speed railway and intercity rail. The station hall is on the first basement floor, which will also be the T1 terminal area of the airport.
There are airport terminals, a transportation center, a parking building and a viaduct planned on the ground, and the platforms are on the second basement floor. The station hall is set above the railway lines and is jointly constructed with the structures of the airport terminal and the General Transportation Center (GTC). In the future, it will be built into a three-dimensional transportation hub integrating "airport + high-speed railway + subway + expressway".
The workers are cooperating to tie the steel bars.
The narrow construction space poses quite a challenge to welding operations.
The railway is an important part of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" rail network and the coastal passenger transport corridor with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is also a railway project with the highest standards, the longest route, and the largest investment in history in Guangdong. It serves as an intercity railway between the Pearl River Delta and western Guangdong and connects the GBA with the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Beibu Gulf urban cluster.
The station is the largest single project and the only transportation hub integrating the airport and the high-speed railway station along the entire line. In the future, new-era informatization and green intelligent construction technologies will be applied to effectively cut carbon emissions during construction and precisely monitor stress, strain and deformation of key parts, thus enhancing project safety, cost-effectiveness, progress, and quality.
The bustling construction site shows the builders' commitment to seamless work.
