Representatives from both China and Cyprus take part in the meeting.

The Chinese Friendship Association Cyprus recently held its annual meeting and the first Business Connecting of the China-Cyprus Sister City Alliance in Cyprus. Over 100 representatives from Cyprus's political, business, academic sectors as well as entrepreneurs attended the event to explore new opportunities for cooperation between friendly cities in China and Cyprus.

To facilitate commercial exchanges between Chinese and Cyprus friendly cities, the event organized a showcase in which 36 Chinese companies introduced themselves via video, helping them to expand their global presence.

Guangzhou has promoted friendly cooperation with several cities in Cyprus, having established friendly city relationships with Ayia Napa in 2018 and Limassol in 2023. On Sep 26, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus initiated the establishment of the China-Cyprus Friendship City Alliance, aiming to create a new model of one-to-many and many-to-many city exchanges.

Guangzhou joined the alliance in October of the same year and participated in local exchange activities between China and Cyprus. In 2024, Guangzhou sent youth representatives to Cyprus to participate in the China-Cyprus Youth Exchange Week and the third China-Cyprus Youth Forum.

During the Green Development sub-forum, they shared Guangzhou's achievements in green development, received a commemorative medal from the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus, and engaged in exchanges and mutual learning with attending youth representatives from the China-Cyprus Friendship City Alliance.
