The 2024 Urban Innovation & Entrepreneurship Final Competition took place on Oct 30, utilizing a blend of online and in-person formats, with the in-person venue located at Guangzhou University.

As a pivotal event organized by the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities, the competition has been conducted four times since its inception in 2020. Close to 500 domestic and international student entrepreneurial teams have engaged in different phases of the competition, culminating in nearly a hundred student teams competing in the finals.

Within domains like advanced manufacturing, new materials, digital health, environmental technology, AI, and educational technology, a cohort of exceptional domestic and international student startups and incubated enterprises have emerged. This has led to the establishment of an internationally renowned youth entrepreneurship competition brand for partner cities, fostering a collaborative platform for students from member universities to collectively tackle global challenges.

Representatives from member universities of the alliance, competition judges, key members of the final competing teams, faculty, students from member universities, and representatives from various sectors of the friendly cities, totaling more than 120 individuals, participated in the event both in person and online.

Centered around the theme of "technological innovation propelling sustainable urban development", the competition features two groups: the "Concept Group" and the "Startup Group". After rigorous internal preliminary rounds and semi-finals held at member universities, 25 teams from member universities, such as Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Medical University, and Western Sydney University, have progressed to the finals.

By inviting venture capital experts and influential figures from the business community to partake in the final judging process and offer financing consultations, the organizing universities aim to extend language and entrepreneurial support to the winning teams. Additionally, they will facilitate the organization of international student entrepreneurship workshops and aid in the execution of competition projects exhibiting innovative and growth-oriented potential.

During the final event, university representatives and team members highlighted the competition's role in fostering valuable networking opportunities, enhancing exchanges, and promoting mutual understanding among young individuals in technological innovation and entrepreneurship within friendly cities.
