IAUP delegation visits Guangzhou University.
An event titled "Innovative Development in Greater Bay Area—2024 IAUP Guangzhou Trip" welcomed over 20 representatives from international organizations and overseas universities from Oct 17 to 18.
Among them were members from prestigious institutions such as the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), the World Federation of United Nations Association (WFUNA), the Association of African Universities, the American Council on Education, the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific, as well as distinguished universities like Washington University of Science and Technology, the University of California, Berkeley, Fort Hays State University, Al Akhawayn University, and Georgian Aviation University.
The visit aims to promote bilateral exchanges among universities in Guangzhou, enterprises, and overseas institutions in key areas such as technological innovation, educational cooperation, and talent exchange, infusing fresh vitality and momentum into Guangzhou's high-level initiatives for opening up and cooperation.
During the tour, the delegation visited Guangzhou University and South China Normal University to delve into the research achievements in higher education in Guangzhou. They engaged in discussions on international educational cooperation in the era of artificial intelligence.
Steve Farr, executive director of the Secretariat of the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities, provided the delegation with an overview of the alliance. Discussions were held on implementing solutions related to artificial intelligence education research within the alliance and collaborating on alliance projects. Farr expressed the alliance's eagerness to cooperate and share resources with additional international universities.
During the event, the Guangzhou Innovation Center of IAUP was inaugurated. The center will help to establish a regular exchange mechanism between Guangzhou and overseas universities, further advancing high-quality international cooperation in higher education in Guangzhou. It will also strive to elevate Guangzhou's level of openness in the education sector and expedite the city's evolution into an international exchange hub.
