During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the passenger flow at the checkpoint of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport remained consistently high.

The checkpoint had already processed over 83,000 inbound and outbound passengers during the festival by 9 pm on Sept 16, meaning more than 10 million passengers have been processed so far this year. This represents a 19-percent increase compared to the total for the entire year of 2023, positioning the airport as the third busiest in the country.

Due to China's unilateral and mutual visa-free policies, as well as the rapid resumption and expansion of international routes and flights, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has experienced a steady rise in the number of international flights and passengers this year.

As of midnight on Sept 16, the Baiyun checkpoint had processed more than 54,000 international passenger flights, reflecting a significant year-on-year increase of 91.6 percent. The daily passenger flow averaged over 38,000 people.

According to statistics from the Baiyun checkpoint, the station has processed over 1.48 million inbound foreign tourists since the beginning of the year. Additionally, it has issued 24/144-hour transit visa-free temporary entry permits to more than 45,000 eligible foreign tourists, increases of 116 percent and 284 percent, respectively.

As of Sept 16, the station had facilitated visa-free entry for over 380,000 foreign tourists this year. Among them, over 230,000 arrivals are from 16 countries, such as France and Germany, that have implemented unilateral visa-free entry policies, accounting for over 60 percent of the total.
