Residents take part in the cultural event to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together.
On Sept 15, Yongning neighborhood, along with its partners, organized a cultural event highlighting the fusion of Chinese and foreign cultures in the internationalized district of Phoenix City.
The event included activities, such as riddle guessing, recitation of ancient poems, performances of intangible cultural heritage such as the guqin (a seven-stringed traditional musical instrument), guzheng (a Chinese zither), and erhu (a two-stringed Chinese instrument). Additionally, interactive experiences with Hanfu and paper-cutting were offered, providing residents with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich and diverse Chinese culture during the traditional festival.
The event featured a special appearance by Ms He Danfeng, the sixth-generation inheritor of the He family paper-cutting and a representative of the Guangzhou paper-cutting project. She showcased her intangible heritage paper-cutting skills on-site, allowing participating residents to witness the artistry and charm of this cultural tradition up close.
Around 80 residents from diverse Chinese and foreign backgrounds enthusiastically took part in the event, with foreign residents even trying their hand at playing the erhu. The cultural exchange between Chinese and foreign residents at the event exemplifies the vision of establishing a trendy, harmonious, and vibrant internationalized district.
The event aimed to serve as a platform for public interaction, fostering communication and exchange between Chinese and foreign residents. It sought to promote China's rich traditional culture, cultivate a joyous atmosphere, and bring everyone together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in unity.
