Foreign students make mooncakes.
The Mid-Autumn Festival-themed event took place at the Overseas Chinese Museum in Guangzhou on the afternoon of Sept 12. Organized by the Guangzhou Tongxin Education Group, the event garnered enthusiastic participation from high schools in Guangzhou, including Jinan University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Medical University, and Guangzhou Open University.
Representatives of 39 international students from 19 countries, including Russia, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, and Cambodia, came together to participate in activities such as mooncake making, tea appreciation, solving lantern riddles, pot throwing, enjoying song and dance performances, exploring the allure of Chinese culture, and immersing themselves in the festive atmosphere.
The head of the Guangzhou overseas Chinese affairs office emphasized that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday that embodies the deep history and cultural richness of the Chinese nation. With its extensive historical legacy and vibrant cultural heritage, Guangzhou stands out as a city known for its warmth, hospitality, and pleasant living environment, drawing in a diverse community of overseas Chinese and foreigners.
He expressed his hope that international students in Guangzhou can excel academically, build lasting friendships, and share Chinese stories, progress, and culture with their peers, fostering a deeper global understanding of China and Guangzhou while promoting exchanges.
