Guangzhou hosted a meeting for key foreign-invested enterprises on Sept 5. The meeting featured 11 foreign enterprise leaders and chamber of commerce guests, including global Fortune 500 companies such as Procter & Gamble, Panasonic, and Zeiss.
On the other side of the meeting table, representatives from over 20 departments and districts, were seated in a row.
The city's annual foreign-invested enterprise meeting, now in its fourth year, serves as a platform for listening to the voices of businesses and supporting their development. It also functions as a strategic alignment meeting to foster mutual engagement and empowerment between the city and enterprises, while providing a forum for brainstorming and exploring international perspectives and anticipating development opportunities.
Guangzhou has long served as a crucial gateway for foreign enterprises seeking to understand and invest in China. The city is currently home to over 47,000 foreign-invested enterprises. Last year, the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises in the city reached 6,629, a substantial 92.6-percent increase and accounting for 12.3 percent of the national total. In the first half of this year, 4,054 new enterprises were established, achieving an impressive growth rate of 46 percent. This figure represents 15 percent of the national total and positions Guangzhou as the leading city in terms of quantity among major cities in China.
