The 15th National Games will be held in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area from Nov 9 to 21, 2025. Drawing inspiration from the design highlights of the Paris Olympics, the upcoming National Games promise to be creative and innovative.
Preparations for the event are currently in full swing. During the Paris Olympics, members of the creative team for the National Games opening ceremony traveled to Paris to learn and observe, aiming to bring back new technologies, ideas, and applications to serve as references for the National Games.
Technology, sports and culture are expected to take center stage at the opening ceremony. The creative team has disclosed that the ceremony will highlight the unique characteristics of the Greater Bay Area through the ignition ceremony and cultural performances. By harnessing the innovative technological capabilities of the Greater Bay Area, the ceremony aims to showcase the region's cultural allure and innovative spirit in the new era to a global audience.
The National Games will embody the principles of sustainability, sharing, openness, and cleanliness in event management, combining art with environmental protection. Green and low-carbon transformations will be implemented for multiple venues, enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions. Ninety percent of the 78 competition venues will be upgraded using technologies like big data and AI. Post-event, the venues will continue to be used to promote nationwide fitness initiatives.
In alignment with the Olympics, the National Games will feature skateboarding, surfing, rock climbing, and parkour as competitive events. These four emerging sports, which are popular among urban youth, are known for their inclusivity and appeal, having been showcased as official events in recent Olympic Games. The addition of these emerging sports will give the 15th National Games a more youthful, urban, and open vibe.
