Guangzhou Garden.

Recently, the Guangzhou Garden was unveiled at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden in the United Kingdom. Three years ago, after winning a gold award at the Chelsea Flower Show in the UK, the garden was rebuilt at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden to convey the friendship between Guangzhou and Bristol.

Inspired by Guangzhou's environmental planning, the garden features a pond, trees, shrubs, canopies, greenery, and perennial moisture-loving plants.

The Chelsea Flower Show, organized by the Royal Horticultural Society of the UK, is the most prestigious horticultural exhibition in the world. In 2021, an award was won by the Guangzhou Garden for the first time, becoming the first Chinese garden to receive a gold award at the Chelsea Flower Show in London in nearly 160 years, breaking the traditional pattern of European horticultural awards.

As a platform for Sino-British exchanges, the "Guangzhou Garden" was designed by Grant Associates to showcase Guangzhou's vision for a future urban garden city and emphasize ecological civilization. Designer Peter Chmiel drew inspiration from Guangzhou's landscape to convey the important concept of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The majority of the plant seeds used in the garden were sourced from Guangdong, further emphasizing its cultural and environmental significance.

In 2001, Guangzhou and Bristol became sister cities. In 2021, the Guangzhou Garden was gifted to the University of Bristol and reconstructed at the university's botanic garden.

Evelyn Welch, the president of the University of Bristol, praised the garden not only for its beauty but also for conveying the significance of cooperation, sustainable development, and cultural exchange.
