Belgium's Umicore, a conglomerate that ranks among the Global 500 and the top 50 companies in the chemical industry, plans to establish its South China trade headquarters in Nansha, Guangzhou.

The project, with an anticipated investment of 300 million yuan ($42 million) , will mainly focus on domestic product sales and the import-export trade of raw and auxiliary materials.

Nansha district, recognized as a national-level new area, a free trade pilot zone, and a comprehensive cooperation demonstration area for Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, has attracted over 260 Global 500 enterprise investment projects this year due to its superior investment environment and strategic location.

Umicore's decision to set up operations in Nansha is a testament to Guangzhou's deepening of its "headquarters economy" strategy, signaling further breakthroughs in global investment attraction and industrial cluster development.

At the 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Global Investment Summit, Guangzhou demonstrated strong economic growth momentum, especially in the manufacturing sector.

The Guangzhou municipal people's government is committed to transforming the city into an international business and industrial hub, offering comprehensive policy support and services to top-tier enterprises.
