On June 1, China-CEEC Cooperation People-to-People Exchange and Experience Center, Guangzhou Foreign Affair Office and Liwan Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau jointly held an advocacy ceremony of the 4th session of China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) children's environmental painting online exhibition (2023) in Shamian Culture Center, Liwan District.

With the theme of "Green development and environmental protection," children created artwork through meticulous observation and social experience. Their paintings express their love for nature and their thought about the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

The exhibition collected a total of 4059 environment-themed paintings of the Guangzhou competition area and selected 405 winning works, including 20 grand prizes, 41 first prizes, 81 second prizes, 122 third prizes, and 141 winning prizes.

Lin Yue, a fourth-grade Saikwan Pui Ching Primary School student, won the grand prize at the event. "I was impressed to see a turtle trapped by a plastic bag on a trip, and I realized the importance of environmental protection. Therefore, I painted a turtle carrying trash to draw attention to marine pollution," she said.

We have collected over 18 thousand paintings from China and CEEC children! I think it is a great opportunity for children from both sides to share their ideas on environmental protection through these artworks," said Song Niya, deputy director of the China-CEEC Cooperation People-to-People Exchange and Experience Center.

According to Hai Jushan, deputy director of the China-CEEC Cooperation People-to-People Exchange and Experience Center, this is the 4th session on of the exhibition since 2019. "Environmental protection is a common topic in all countries. We hope the exhibition with environmental protection as the theme will help us establish environmental protection concepts and living habits and learn about the cultural history of other countries through exchanges. When the children grow up, they will become a new force for environmental protection and friendly international exchanges," he said.

The exhibition will last until June 5, and citizens are welcome to come to Shamian Culture Center.
