The Asia Youth Leaders Forum, which is a significant public diplomacy event in Asia, took place in Nansha district, Guangzhou, from March 25 to 27. The forum was held under the theme "Enhancing youth cooperation, solidifying common values, and promoting peace and development in Asia."

Combining online and onsite methods, approximately 400 young guests from various Asian countries were invited to take part in in-depth discussions on topics of mutual concern among Asian youth.

During the opening ceremony on March 25, Anwar Ibrahim, prime minister of Malaysia, expressed via video his gratitude to China for providing a platform for youth exchanges between countries. He emphasized the importance of using opportunities like the forum to foster mutual understanding among young participants from diverse cultural and political backgrounds.

Anwar noted that the youth need to have channels to learn about other countries and cultures. He went further to explain that in the past, China was viewed through a Western lens, but now, thanks to the development of digital technology, the world can gain a deeper understanding of diverse values and make their own opinions. Anwar encouraged the young attendees to continue to broaden their horizons and expand their knowledge.

The Asia Youth Leaders Forum aims to promote youth exchanges between China and other Asian countries and enhance people-to-people connectivity among the Belt and Road Initiative countries. This is also a great opportunity to share stories about Guangzhou, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and China, while also contributing to building an international community with a shared future.
