A delegation of officials from more than 20 foreign consulate general offices in Guangzhou, including the Congo, the Philippines, South Korea, and Australia, visited Haizhu Lake and one of Guangzhou Water Investment Group's water purification plants on March 10.
They had a close-up view of the city's water protection infrastructure and saw the effects of the "Green Guangzhou" initiative.
Zhan Decun, director of the foreign affairs office of the Guangzhou municipal government, delivered a speech, and Feng Mingqian, the chief engineer of the Guangzhou Water Authority, introduced Guangzhou's water environment governance to the delegation.
Officials of the delegation expressed that the advanced technology of the city's buried water purification plant and the beauty of its ecological environment are impressive. They went further to say that Guangzhou is a model for green water innovation.
Officials from the consulates of Kuwait, South Korea, Greece, the Philippines, Panama, and other countries said that they would organize a trip to Guangzhou for their environmental officials and enterprise representatives in order to carry out exchanges focusing on water purification.
They hope to introduce Guangzhou's buried water purification technology, as well as the construction and operation concepts of Guangzhou's water purification plants to their countries in order to create new value for water resources and the water environment.
