The opening ceremony of the Brazil Joint Exhibition Area and Metaverse Exhibition of the 5th China International Import Expo Service Trade Hall was held simultaneously in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Guangzhou's Nansha district, as well as Shanghai on Nov 5.

Wu Yang, head of Nansha district, and Wilson Miguel Reis, mayor of Duque de Caxias, Brazil, delivered their speeches via video at the ceremony.

Wu welcomed Brazil and Duque de Caxias, as well as congratulated them on their participation in the 5th CIIE. He noted that Nansha's support for the remote participation of Duque de Caxias in the expo is a solid step in deepening pragmatic exchanges between the two sides since they signed the agreement to be Friendship Cities (districts) on Aug 1 this year.

"We hope to take this opportunity to jointly promote the economic prosperity and development of the two places, as well as deepen the friendship between China and Brazil," Wu added. 

Reis noted that China is Brazil's largest trading partner and an important source of investment, adding that the two sides have broad prospects for cooperation in finance, energy, agriculture, as well as science and technology. He expressed appreciation to Nansha for its strong support and said that Duque de Caxias is willing to take the CIIE as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with China while achieving mutually beneficial results.
