The theme event of World Metropolitan Day was held in Bogota, Colombia on Oct 7.

World Metropolitan Day is a joint initiative of UN-Habitat and Metropolis, also known as the World Association of Major Metropolises, which aims to promote the sustainable development of metropolises.

During the event, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, and other Metropolis membership cities in China held a landmark lighting activity. A video spotlighting the lighting activity was shown during World Metropolis Day celebrations in Bogota, showcasing urban development in China.

This year, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Barcelona, Spain, Istanbul, Turkey, and Mashhad, Iran also held various events, including seminars and forums themed around World Metropolitan Day.
