On Sept 20, Guangzhou reported one local asymptomatic case who had already been quarantined as a close contact of a previously confirmed COVID-19 case. Guangzhou also reported two imported confirmed cases and three imported asymptomatic cases, while two previously reported imported asymptomatic cases have been diagnosed and confirmed as COVID-19.

As of Sept 20, 7,035 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 3,493 confirmed cases (2,446 imported cases and 1,047 local cases), among which 96 patients are still being treated in hospital; and 3,542 asymptomatic cases (3,275 imported cases and 267 local cases), among which 57 cases are still under medical observation.

Details of the Local Asymptomatic Case

The patient is a 68-year-old man who lives in the Kuangquan sub-district, Yuexiu district. He was in close contact with the local asymptomatic case reported on Sept 18. He tested positive during quarantine. He has been transferred to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment.

Details of the Two Imported Confirmed Cases and Three Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The two imported confirmed cases traveled from Myanmar and Egypt, respectively; one imported asymptomatic case traveled from UAE, while the other two imported asymptomatic cases traveled from Mongolia.

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment.

Due to COVID-19 containment requirements, if you have been to the Ground Floor Waiting Room of Guangzhou Railway Station in the following time slots: 09:30 am-10:40 am and 2:50 pm-4:00 pm on Sept 18, please report to your community immediately. You are required to take three PCR tests within three days. We also ask your support in implementing other necessary COVID-19 control and prevention measures. Failure to comply in reporting faithfully will lead to severe consequences, and will be held legally liable.
