An international culture communication event hosted by the foreign affairs office of Guangzhou municipal government took place on July 30 in Tianhe's Liede Street community, which is included in Guangzhou's first batch of pilot international communities.

At the event, Chinese classic guqin music Flowing Waters was staged, a traditional Chinese stringed musical instrument as well as a world-class intangible cultural heritage.

The performance allowed both Chinese and foreign guests to not only feel the charm of guqin but also learn the legendary friendship and artistic pursuit between Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi in the Warring States Period (475-221 BC).

Guests were eager to play chess after learning about the underlying hidden Chinese wisdom in the game Go.

On the subject of Lingnan summer fruits like lychees and watermelons, they used instruments to create fan paintings and calligraphy under the guidance of teachers.

A student from Pakistan of South China University of Technology, who goes by the Chinese name Xiao Ming, said he enjoys taking part in similar cultural gatherings. He expressed his hope to visit every province and region in China and get a sense of their diverse cultures.
