The Guangzhou multilingual public service platform 960169 held a public welfare mini-lecture to teach foreigners how to use its audio and video interactive services, as well as released Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean versions of the guideline for the platform on July 30.
In order to help foreigners in Guangzhou solve the difficulties in cross-language communication, the foreign affairs office of the Guangzhou municipal government launched the Guangzhou multilingual public service platform and opened the 960169 hotline in Guangdong on July 31, 2019.
The platform provides free real-time translation services for government affairs and public affairs for the public, institutions, enterprises, as well as foreign exchange service departments in Guangzhou.
Over the past three years, the hotline has received a total of 16,872 calls, covering nine common international languages including English, Japanese, Korean, French, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
At present, the platform's hotline has provided services for 10,607 foreigners from 113 countries in Guangdong.
