Guangzhou held the 2022 Reception for the Consular Corps in Guangzhou to introduce the Nansha Plan to officials from the consulate generals of 56 countries in Guangzhou on July 20.

Guo Yonghang, mayor of Guangzhou, as well as Beh Ching Chye, acting head of the consular corps in Guangzhou and consul general of Malaysia in Guangzhou, attended the event and delivered speeches.

Guo said that Guangzhou is currently speeding up the implementation of the Nansha Plan, which is an overall plan for Nansha to deepen comprehensive cooperation in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. It is also expected to accelerate the development of Nansha into a major strategic platform based on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, cooperating with Hong Kong and Macao, as well as facing the world.

He expressed hope that the consulate generals of various countries in Guangzhou would introduce the Nansha Plan to enterprises and outstanding talents in their own countries, promote the numerous business opportunities of the city, as well as recommend high-quality enterprises to visit Guangzhou for exchanges and to explore investment opportunities to promote the mutual development between Guangzhou and other countries.

Guangzhou will continue to optimize services for foreign-funded enterprises and foreigners in Guangzhou, as well as continue to deepen comprehensive cooperation and exchanges with other countries and international friendship cities, Guo added.

Beh highly praised Guangzhou's achievements in fighting COVID-19 and bolstering its economic development.

He added that Guangzhou is one of the most attractive investment destinations in the world, boasting a good business environment and numerous innovation opportunities.

He noted that the foreign consulates in Guangzhou are committed to deepening and developing good relations between countries and Guangzhou, adding that they will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Guangzhou in the fields of trade, investment, culture, education, and advanced technology R&D. 

During the event, the Nansha district government and the Guangzhou municipal commerce bureau detailed the implementation measures of the Nansha Plan, as well as provided an overview of the investment and business environment in Guangzhou.
