An event was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia on July 5 to mark the 20th year anniversary of the Friendship City tie with Guangzhou, China.

On that day, the streets of Yekaterinburg were decorated with traditional Chinese red lanterns and balloons. People participating in the celebrations held the national flags of China and Russia high, performed Chinese folk dances, as well as shouted in Chinese, "Yekaterinburg and Guangzhou are forever good brothers."

Guangzhou and Yekaterinburg have maintained the tradition of holding exchanges and visits, as well as have carried out close cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education, and art over the past 20 years, said Cui Shaochun, Chinese consul general in Yekaterinburg, when addressing the event. 

Cui also expressed hope that the two sides will further strengthen friendly exchanges, upgrade cooperation in various fields, and inject new vitality into the China-Russia strategic partnership.

Officials of Yekaterinburg also expressed gratitude to the Consulate General of China in Yekaterinburg for its contributions in promoting bilateral cooperation at the event.
