On May 5, Guangzhou reported 13 local confirmed cases (6 were previously reported as asymptomatic cases), 1 local asymptomatic case, 2 imported confirmed cases and 4 imported asymptomatic cases. Eleven COVID-19 patients have been newly discharged, while 169 still remain in the hospital.

As of 24:00 May 5, 2022, a total of 5,651 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 2,764 confirmed cases (1,837 imported cases and 927 local cases) and 2,887 asymptomatic cases (2,628 imported cases and 259 local cases).
