Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for April 23

On April 23, Guangzhou reported 4 local confirmed cases (2 were previously identified as asymptomatic cases), 5 imported confirmed cases (1 was previously identified as an asymptomatic case), and 6 imported asymptomatic cases. Ten COVID-19 patients have been newly discharged, while 229 still remain in the hospital.

As of 24:00 April 23, 2022, a total of 5,417 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 2,620 confirmed cases (1,817 imported cases and 803 local cases) and 2,797 asymptomatic cases (2,552 imported cases and 245 local cases).

Local Cases Details 

The 1st patient is an 88-year-old Chinese woman.

The 2nd patient is a 14-year-old Chinese boy.

The 1st and 2nd patients live in Dagang Village, Baiyunhu Subdistrict, Baiyun District. They were previously identified as asymptomatic cases and have now been diagnosed as confirmed cases.

The 3rd patient is a 53-year-old Chinese man.

The 4th patient is a 28-year-old Chinese woman.

The 3rd and 4th patients live in Dagang Village, Baiyunhu Subdistrict, Baiyun District. They were found among quarantined close contacts.

All patients have been transferred to Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment.

Renhe station of Metro Line 3 and Jiangxia station of Metro Line 2 resume normal operation today. Up till today, all metro stations temporarily closed for COVID-19 concerns have reopened except Tongde station of Metro Line 8.
