COVID-19 update: 1 person returning from another province tests positive

On March 20, Baiyun district reported that a person returning to Guangzhou from outside Guangdong province tested positive for COVID-19. Details are as follows:

The patient is a 22-year-old woman who lives in Tianhong Huayuan Community, Longgui neighborhood, Baiyun district. On March 18, she took train D3315 from outside Guangdong to Guangzhou and tested negative after she arrived at Guangzhou East Railway Station. On the evening of March 19, a test sample of 10 people in the Baiyun district came back positive. Relevant persons were immediately placed under the containment measures and their samples were collected and sent to the Guangzhou CDC and the Baiyun district CDC for testing. On March 20, further confirmation by the Guangzhou CDC concluded that the patient had been inflected with SARS-Cov-2 (with mild symptoms). The patient was transported to No 8 Affiliated Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University for treatment and is now in quarantine.

In response, relevant municipal and district departments launched an emergency plan which includes epidemiological investigation, contact tracing, as well as control and disinfection measures at key exposure sites. Currently, every identified close and secondary contact has been quarantined, and COVID-19 testing and other response measures are well underway.

Based on the epidemiological investigation result and COVID-19 control and prevention requirements, Baiyun district’s designated lockdown zones, partial lockdown zones, and restricted zones are as follows:

Lockdown zones: Building No 40, 41, and No 42 in the Tianhong Huayuan Community, Longgui neighborhood. The abovementioned areas shall be completely locked down, and all residents inside these areas are under mandatory home quarantine while necessary services and goods will be delivered to their doorsteps.

Partial lockdown zones: Building No 36, 37, 38, and No 39 in the Tianhong Huayuan Community, Longgui neighborhood. Residents in these areas shall not leave the partial lockdown zones and deliveries must be collected on a staggered schedule.

Restricted zones: Tianhong Huayuan Community and Huiya Huayuan Community in Longgui neighborhood. Social activities will be restricted, and people are strictly forbidden to gather in these areas.

The above measures will take effect on March 20, 2022, and will be adjusted on a dynamic basis.  

Residents in lockdown zones, partial lockdown zones, and restricted zones shall not leave Guangzhou unless necessary and shall follow the guidance of their neighborhood and community to take COVID-19 tests and implement other necessary risk control measures.
