COVID-19 update: 1 person under mandatory quarantine tested positive

The patient is a 40-year-old woman who lives in Yiyun town on Baiyun Avenue of Baiyun district. She is a close contact with the case reported on March 10 and has been placed under mandatory quarantine. 

As her COVID-19 test results from the municipal and district CDCs came out positive on March 13, the patient was immediately transported to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for treatment. The patient was later diagnosed with COVID-19 and showed mild symptoms.

In response, relevant municipal and district departments launched an emergency plan that includes epidemiological investigation, contact tracing, as well as control and disinfection measures on key exposure sites. Currently, every identified close and secondary contact has been quarantined, while COVID-19 testing and other response measures are currently underway.

Based on the initial epidemiological investigation findings, Baiyun district designated a lockdown zone, a partial lockdown zone, and a restricted zone as follows:

Lockdown zone: C16, C17, C18, C13, C14, C15, and C12, Yiyun town residential community. The aforementioned areas shall be completely locked down, and all residents shall be under mandatory home quarantine. Necessary services and goods will be delivered to their doorsteps.

Partial lockdown zone: Yiyun town residential community. Residents are not allowed to leave the zone. Deliveries must be collected on a staggered schedule.

Restricted zone: The area encircled by Jianpeng Road in the south, Wanggang Avenue and Yongping Youyi Road in the north, Guangyun Road in the west, and Baiyun Avenue in the east. Social activities and gatherings are strictly restricted, dining-in services are suspended, and enclosed facilities are temporarily closed in this area.

The above measures will take effect on March 13, 2022. Adjustments will be made on a dynamic basis according to changes in the epidemic situation. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. If you experience symptoms such as fever, please seek professional medical advice at a nearby fever clinic.
