Guangzhou Kingmed Diagnostics Group representatives detailed how they provided nucleic acid testing services for the recently concluded 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics at a press conference held on Feb 22.
The company set up a service team of nearly 500 people to take charge of nucleic acid testing in over 50 areas, including the National Stadium and Beijing Winter Olympic Village, noted Wang Linglai, senior vice president of the company.
"So far, our group has tested more than 700,000 tubes for the Winter Olympics, accounting for about 30 percent of the total amount of tests in Beijing," Wang added.
The Falcon mobile laboratory for the Winter Olympics is the "latest weapon" developed by the group to combat COVID-19. Equipped with automatic nucleic acid extraction devices and other nucleic acid testing automation equipment, its daily testing capacity can reach three times that of a traditional mobile laboratory, with a maximum daily testing capacity of nearly 30,000 tubes.
Guangzhou Kingmed Diagnostics Group integrates sampling, transportation, and testing services to ensure the optimization of testing efficiency through the informatization of the whole process. It takes an average of six hours to produce test results.
