A couple has tested positive for COVID-19 in Buji, Longgang district, Shenzhen.

The husband, 29, tested preliminarily positive on Jan 6 and was retested, with the Shenzhen municipal center for disease control and prevention announcing the positive result today (on Jan 7). His wife, also 29, was tested as a close contact and was also confirmed as a positive case.

The pair have been transferred to an emergency isolation ward for treatment, while the areas they were active in recently are currently being disinfected.

To strengthen COVID-19 prevention and control in the city, Guangzhou center for disease control and prevention reminds residents to abide by the following measures:

1. Those who have traveled to Shenzhen, Guangdong on or after Dec 18, 2021, especially those who have visited Longgang district or Luohu district on or after Dec 28, as well as red or yellow Suikang Code holders should report to their local community or village committees, employers, or hotels, and comply with corresponding health management measures.

2. Those who have traveled to Shenzhen on or after Dec 18, 2021 should take a COVID-19 test and practice health monitoring.

3. Those who have returned to Guangzhou after traveling outside Guangdong should take a test, undergo 14-day self-health observation, and practice health monitoring.

Hong Kong to ban flights from 8 countries due to Omicron concerns

Starting Jan 8, Hong Kong will ban air passengers from eight countries, including Australia, Canada, and France, for two weeks, while dine-in services at restaurants are prohibited from 6 pm to 4:59 am each day as the Hong Kong SAR edges closer to a fifth wave of coronavirus infections.

Passenger flights from outside China will be prohibited

To reduce the risk of COVID-19, from Jan 9, to 23:59 on Jan 23, Macao will prohibit civil aircraft from carrying passengers from places outside China to Macao.
