On Jan 8, two new COVID-19 cases were reported in Jinnan district, Tianjin. One was found via a voluntary PCR test while the other was found when the infected individual was seeking medical treatment in a fever clinic. The two patients have already been sent to the designated hospital in Tianjin. Based on the PCR tests, clinical features, blood tests and CT results, experts have categorized them as confirmed local cases with mild symptoms. Prevention and control measures are already in place, including lockdown and partial lockdowns in Jinnan district and Nankai district.

Two COVID-19 cases were reported in Anyang, with unknown source of infection. Both tested positive when seeking medical treatment. The details are as follows:

Case No 1: Male; 27 years old; 

Current residence: Jinhe Shuyuan Talent Apartment, Jinhe Street, Huaxian county; returning from Zhengzhou.

On the morning of Dec 11, 2021 the individual, along with his colleague, took a bus from Huaxian county Coach Station to the Zhengzhou Railway Station.

Dec 12: The individual headed to Guangzhou for equipment testing with his two colleagues, one of whom boarded the train from Zhengzhou.

Workplace: Guangzhou medical devices quality surveillance and test institute; Lodging: Room 8408, Kaishun Hotel, Tianhe district, Guangzhou.

Dec 24: The three took the train from Guangzhou back to Zhengzhou. Ticket number: Z14; Seat number: Bottom Bunk of No 15 bed, Compartment 5. The train departed at 5:05 pm and arrived in Zhengzhou at 8:48 am on Dec 25. One of his colleagues stayed in Zhengzhou.

Dec 25: The individual took a bus with his colleague back to Huaxian county at about 11:00 am. License plate of the bus: Henan AP9295. They arrived at Huaxian county Coach Station at around 14:00 pm. After having some Hula Soup (ID of payee: “珍惜拥有”) at the station exit, the individual walked to his company and drove himself back to Tangyin county after work.

Dec 26: At 17:45 pm, the individual went to a green grocery called "Fruit Fresh" in Tangyin county to buy vegetables.

Dec 27: At around 10 am, the individual accompanied his wife for a pregnancy test at Guxian township Health Center in Tangyin county. Afterwards, he went home and had dinner at Kangzhibiao Stewed Chicken Restaurant at 19:37 pm pm in Xunxian county. At 21:17 pm, he went to the barbershop "Sheyan Style" for a haircut. At around 21:30 pm he went to a fruit store "Shenshi Fresh Fruit" for some fruit. He travelled by car the entire time.

Dece 28-31: The individual traveled between his company and parents-in-law's house (in Tunzi town, Xunxian county) every day.

Dec 29: At 17:50 pm, the individual filled up at the Zhongzheng Boyuan gas station on Chuangye Avenue, Huaxian county.

Dec 31: At 18:40 pm, the individual visited Longsheng Fruit and Vegetable Store in Tunzi town, Xun county.

Jan 1: The individual returned to Tangyin county after work.

Jan 2: At 15:41 pm, the individual bought a roast chicken at "Liyang Roast Chicken Shop" on Zhengtong Road, Tangyin county. Afterwards, he went to his grandfather's house in Dazhuzhuang village, Guxian township, then to his grandfather's house in Qianlu village, and finally returned to Huaxian county Talent Apartment in the evening.

Jan 3: The individual went to work as usual and had dinner at "Gu Peng Ma Duck Noodle Restaurant" on Shangjie Street, Huaxian county at 21:40 pm. There were eight or nine people at the restaurant.

Jan 4: The individual went to work as usual and had dinner at "Gu Peng Ma Duck Noodle Restaurant" on Shangjie Street, Huaxian county at 17:03 pm. He went shopping at "Otford Shopping Center" on Shangjie Street and stayed for about 10 minutes. At 18:00 pm, he visited the "Machine Hall" internet café on Shangjie Street, Huaxian county for about three hours.

Jan 5: The individual went to work as usual and experienced some dizziness.

Jan 6: The individual went to work in the morning and called in sick in the afternoon. He used Meituan takeaway to buy some medicine and picked up the medicine at his apartment door.

Jan 7: At 9:30 am, he went to a Hula Soup diner for breakfast and then went to the West Hospital of Huaxian Central Hospital for a PCR test. He went  home before stopping by a local stall for some fruit on Shangjie Street. He had lunch at Daowanjia Mixed Congee at 12:00 pm and ordered takeout (Sancan Congee) for dinner at 19:10 pm. He stayed in his apartment afterwards.

Case No 2: Female; 18 years old; 

Current residence: Heyuan Garden, Wenfeng district, Anyang. She is a boarding student at Tangyin Yucai Middle School. 

At about 16:00 pm on Dec 31, 2021, the student returned to her home in Heyuan Garden, Wenfeng district, Anyang, taking bus No 2 (or No 8) and then transferring to No 50. Only her mother and one other person were at home.

On Jan 1, 2022, the student and her mother took a tricycle to Wang Panliu's home in Longan district. They bought some fruit at "Guozhiyuan Fruit Store" and paid online. They didn't go out afterwards.

Between 06:50 am and 07:00 am on the morning of Jan 2, the student took bus No 50 from the intersection of Zhonghua Road and Huanghenan Road back to Tangyin and got off at the terminal. She then took bus No 2 or No 8 from Tangyin to her school. She got off at Zhonghuayuan Garden and walked to her school. She said she wore a mask while on the bus.

On Jan 2 to 7, the student stayed at her school (Tangyin Yucai Middle School). There were 49 students in her class. She had contact with six teachers and 11 female students in the same dormitory. She didn't visit other dormitories and had all her meals on the second floor of the dining hall inside the school. Lockdown measures were in effect at the school.

On Jan 7, after being picked up from school by her mother at 9 am, the student returned to her grandfather's home in Yuanlu village, Neihuang county with her grandmother and aunt and arrived at about 11 am. She returned to Anyang immediately after lunch. She took a PCR test, which was required for her to return to her school, at Anyang People's Hospital. After the test, she returned home and stopped by the fruit store downstairs. Afterwards she stayed at home and did not go out again.

Guangzhou CDC urges all residents to take the following precautions:

1. Those who have traveled to Jinnan district and Nankai district in Tianjin and Anyang in Henan province on or after Dec 25 and whose Suikang Code has turned red or yellow should report to their community or village committees, employers, or hotels as soon as possible and comply with corresponding health management measures.

2. Those who have returned to Guangzhou after traveling outside Guangdong should take a test, undergo 14-day self-health observation, and practice health monitoring.

Reminders

The management of inbound travelers to Guangzhou should strictly abide by the Notice on Strengthening COVID-19 Measures in Guangzhou (No 28).

Those who experience fever, dry cough, fatigue, decreased sense of smell and taste, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, conjunctivitis, myalgia, diarrhea, etc. should report to their community or village committees, employers or hotels immediately and go to a nearby fever clinic. They must truthfully inform their healthcare workers of their travel history. In such cases, public transportation should be avoided.

Residents should strengthen personal protection, wear masks correctly, practice good hygiene habits, and refrain from touching their eyes, mouth, and nose before cleaning their hands. Avoid going to crowded, enclosed, or poorly ventilated spaces. Those planning to go to indoor entertainment or recreational venues should make an appointment in advance, undergo temperature checks, present their health codes, scan the QR code at the venue for track and trace, keep a distance of 1 meter from each other, and minimize their length of stay as much as possible.
