A documentary film taking a look at the food culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region will be broadcast on CCTV-9 on Dec 20.

The film — Crunch and Munch in Macao — uses advanced 4K technology and aims to capture a wide audience, Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group, said on Wednesday at a news conference. It will be broadcast simultaneously on CMG's video platform and website, as well as by the China Global Television Network, an international media organization headquartered in Beijing.

Also on Wednesday, CMG authorized Teledifusao de Macao to broadcast the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games on CCTV-16, CMG's Olympics channel, as well as the Chengdu 2021 International University Sports Federation World University Games.

Shen, along with Ho lat Seng, Macao's chief executive, were among the officials at the ceremony in Guangzhou who witnessed the signing of the authorization. Ho expressed gratitude for CMG's longtime support for the region.

"The authorization of broadcast rights ensures that local audiences in Macao will be able to join their counterparts on the Chinese mainland" in watching the Games, Shen said, noting that the media group will continue to use 8K technology in covering the Games.

CMG's sports channel, CCTV-5, expanded to Macao in December 2019, broadcasting a wide range of sports programs for local audiences, including the Tokyo Olympics and the 14th National Games.
