Guangzhou and Kherson city in southern Ukraine signed a memorandum online to strengthen communication and cooperation on Oct 12, making Kherson a new friendly city of Guangzhou. 

Kherson city is also the second Ukrainian city that formed a friendly-city relationship with Guangzhou following Kyiv, capital of Ukraine, in September 2020. 

Kherson city is an important port city in Ukraine and is the capital city of Kherson, Ukrainian's largest agricultural state. 

Covering a total area of 65,000 hectares, Kherson city has a population of 330,000. The textile industry in Kherson city ranks first in Ukraine.

Famous tourist attractions in Kherson city include St Catherine's Cathedral, Park Slavy and the Monument to the First Shipmen.
