A central government delegation on Monday held its first talk in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to introduce the nation's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for social and economic development.
To help the Hong Kong community better understand the national development strategy and its significance for Hong Kong, the delegation will hold various meetings with different sectors this week on the plan.
A key development blueprint of the nation, the plan proposes to maintain the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao, and progressively promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Hong Kong's chief executive; Luo Huining, director of the central government's liaison office in Hong Kong; and Huang Liuquan, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
Ning Jizhe, vice-chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, delivered a speech about the plan from Beijing via video link.
Some Hong Kong officials and representatives from IT and financial sectors met the media after the event.
The central government delegation also held a seminar at the city's legislature at 4 pm on August 23.
