In Guangzhou, the last six local confirmed patients were discharged from hospital on the morning of July 8, marking the clearance of all the local confirmed cases reported from the recent outbreak that started in May.
As of July 8, Guangzhou has reported no new local COVID-19 cases for 19 consecutive days. All of the 153 local confirmed patients received treatment at the Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University.
As there was a larger number of elderly patients with chronic diseases in this outbreak, the hospital saw as many as 10 critically-ill patients at its peak. By June 27, all critically-ill patients in the latest outbreak had recovered. On July 8, all patients recovered and no one died in the latest outbreak in Guangzhou.
COVID-19 restrictions eased on Fangcun, Liwan
On July 8, Liwan district issued a new notice, lifting COVID-19 restrictions on Fangcun area.
Restaurants can resume dine-in services starting from July 8. Residents in Fangcun are required to wear masks, produce health codes and take a temperature check before entry. The distance between customers sitting at different tables should be no less than 1 meter. Digital payments are highly encouraged.
All indoor cultural and entertainment venues such as cinemas, theaters, KTV and internet cafes will resume operation. Confined indoor spaces in tourist attractions and indoor stadiums will be allowed to receive visitors up to 75 percent of their capacity. Indoor key venues are required to strictly implement preventive and control measures.
For schools at all levels, health monitoring of teachers/students and a series of epidemic control measures will be strengthened for the resumption of offline teaching. Training institutions and child care centers are permitted to resume business on the premise that epidemic control and prevention measures are strictly implemented.
