Experts in traditional Chinese medicine from Guangzhou held an online meeting with their counterparts from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, one of Guangzhou's friendly cities, on May 19.

The meeting was part of the webinar series held by the Consulate General of China in Rio de Janeiro on cooperation in traditional medicine with the aim of fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zhu Weifeng, chairman of Guangzhou TCM association, introduced the history of Lingnan (South China) TCM and welcomed the Brazilian friends to learn more about Lingnan TCM.

Zhu added that Guangzhou is similar to many parts of Brazil as it is warm and wet, and that Guangzhou is the birthplace of Lingnan TCM.

Cai Yingfeng, a TCM physician from Guangzhou, outlined his experience in making TCM decoction for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control. 

Two Guangzhou experts said that all Guangzhou TCM practitioners are willing to take part in the industrial cooperation of traditional medicines between China and Brazil, and that their Brazilian peers are welcome to carry out communications with Guangzhou.
