The 2021 World UHD Video Industrial Conference (WUVIC) is set to take place in Guangzhou from May 8 to 10, officials announced during a press conference held recently.

The conference is being jointly held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Radio and Television Administration, China Media Group and the People's Government of Guangdong Province. 

An opening ceremony, seven themed forums, several special press conferences, matchmaking conferences and project roadshows will all be held during this year's event.

A trade fair for innovative products and technologies in the UHD video industry will also be held. 

Guests including Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders such as China Mobile, China Unicom, Huawei, TCL, Intel and Sony will participate in the event, and some of them will debut their latest products and technologies. 

Representatives from famous overseas companies and industrial organizations such as Dolby Laboratories from the United States, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Vizrt from Norway and EditShare from the United Kingdom will be invited to deliver keynote speeches during the conference. 

The conference has now been held three times, and Guangdong province has been grasping the opportunities brought by the event to develop its UHD video industry.

The operation revenue of the province's UHD video industry reached 600 billion yuan ($93 billion) in 2020, and the province's production volume of color television sets amounted to 112 million, accounting for 57.2 percent of the country's total.
