A special area for Italian books, situated on the eighth floor of Guangzhou Library, was opened to the public on April 19.

An opening ceremony was attended by officials from both Guangzhou and Italy. They included Lei Weiju, deputy director of the foreign affairs office of the Guangzhou municipal government, Luca Ferrari, the Italian ambassador to China, Lucia Pasqualini, the consul general of Italy in Guangzhou, and Fang Jiazhong, curator of Guangzhou Library.
