Both Venezuela and Guangzhou have the advantage of being world transportation hubs and the two areas enjoys huge potential for cooperation in the construction of their transportation infrastructure, said Venezuelan Ambassador to China Felix Plasencia during his visit to Guangzhou.

A seminar on business and trade between the ambassador and representatives from more than 50 companies in Guangdong province was held during the ambassador's visit to the city, reported Guangzhou Daily on Jan 11.

These companies mostly work on imports and exports in industries such as energy, minerals and medical equipment, and many of them have shown an interest in Venezuela's wine and coffee.

"This is an amazing metropolis," said Plasencia when talking about his impression of Guangzhou. He added that Guangzhou is a major commercial center in China.

He expressed his hopes that more cooperation platforms and good business relationships can be jointly formed by Guangzhou and Venezuela, and direct flights between the two areas will soon be launched.

"I hope that we can carry out more discussions about the cooperation potential between Guangzhou and Venezuela and figure out how to increase business contacts," said Plasencia. "The tourism industry in Venezuela also has potential and I think it will attract a lot of Chinese investors and visitors in the future."
